Kylian Mbappe, at the age of 25, has officially signed a five-year deal to move to the Bernabeu Stadium once his contract with Paris St-Germain expires on 30 June. As part of this deal, he is set to earn staggering 15 million euros (£12.8m) per season, along with a generous 150 million euro (£128m) signing-on bonus that will be distributed over the course of five years. Additionally, Mbappe will retain a portion of his image rights, adding to his overall earning potential.
Expressing his immense excitement, Mbappe took to Instagram to share his feelings, stating, "Nobody can understand how excited I am right now!" He went on to describe his move as a "dream come true," expressing his happiness and pride at joining the club of his dreams.
Mbappe's transition to Real Madrid comes following the club's recent triumph in La Liga, securing their record-extending 15th European crown with a victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
Having agreed verbally to join Real Madrid in February and later confirming his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in May, Mbappe leaves PSG as the club's record goalscorer with an impressive tally of 256 goals since his arrival from Monaco on loan in 2017. Last season alone, he netted a remarkable 44 goals in 48 matches, solidifying his position as the leading scorer in the French top flight for six consecutive years.
At the club level, Mbappe has contributed to seven Ligue 1 titles, including one with Monaco and six with PSG, in addition to securing four French Cup winner's medals. Notably, he claimed the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, although France suffered a heartbreaking loss to Argentina in a penalty shootout during the final match.
While his career highlights are numerous, Mbappe is still chasing his first Champions League triumph, having experienced a runner-up finish in the 2019-2020 season. With his move to a club that has a reputation for success in the elite European club competition, Mbappe aims to fulfill this remaining ambition and add another milestone to his already impressive football career.
